The mother of XXXTentacion’s newborn child has been granted the rights to obtain a DNA sample from the late rapper, The Blast reports.

Jenesis Sanchez, who gave birth to X’s son Gekyume Onfroy in January, had petitioned to carry out a paternity test to legally determine that the rapper was indeed the father of her child. The couple had been living together and were in a sexual relationship up until his untimely death last year, according to The Blast. The pair, however, were not married at the time of Gekyume’s birth.

Sanchez’s successful request comes weeks after it had been blocked by X’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard. In the court documents obtained by The Blast, Bernard allegedly wanted the case to be dismissed, although her reason remains unclear. She had previously celebrated the birth of her grandson on her Instagram story and called Gekyume the “final gift” from X.
