Missy Elliott has shared a glamorous throwback video for “Why I Still Love You,” a cut off her Iconology project from last August.
The clip, co-directed by Missy and Derek Blanks, resumes the narrative of previous Iconology visuals “Throw it Back” and “DripDemeanor” featuring Sum1. The new video opens on the same young girl who continues to wander through the Hall of Missy, an exhibition that showcases the rapper’s greatest achievements.
This time, our protagonist stumbles upon a black-and-white portrait of Missy from the ’60s, which eventually comes to life. Throughout the video, Missy performs as the leader of a Supremes-inspired girl group, donning sequined jumpsuits and flowery vests.
