Mick Jenkins shares hard-hitting single “What am I to Do?”

He floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee in this one.

Mick Jenkins has teamed up with Canadian DJ Kaytranada on a new single, “What am I to Do?” The track comes hot on the heels of “Bruce Banner,” the lead single off Jenkins’ upcoming album, Pieces of a Man.

As we’ve come to expect of the rapper, “What am I to Do?” wastes no time in bringing up socio-economic issues. “The less you got stuffed in your pocket books / The more these politicians just sound like crooks / They give me sloppy looks / They gave us nothing, had to hustle same way coffee cook / Early morning grind trying to help these n*ggas wake up,” he spits on the first verse.

Kaytranada lays a smooth-flowing, almost euphoric sample over these hard-hitting lines, and it’s a fitting metaphor for the points Jenkins raises on the track.
