Mick Jenkins has shared his first single of the year, a bouncy track produced by Kaytranada called “Designer Frames.”
The Chicago rapper showcases his smart wordplay on the track over an Afrobeats-inspired instrumental by Kaytranada. “I could give a fuck, being frank, I be laughing like I’m off the Novocain / Hold the weight of the team, I might have to do like Kappa, grab a cane / All the pain we ascertain from chocolate rain and acid rain,” Jenkins spits.
This isn’t the first time Jenkins and Kaytranada have collaborated on a track. Back in 2019, Jenkins was featured on Kaytranada’s album, Bubba. Over the weekend, the LP won Kaytranada a Grammy Award for Best Dance Electronic Album, making him the first Black artist ever to win the award.
Alongside the release of “Designer Frames,” Jenkins also congratulated Kaytranada on his Grammy wins and teased new music over on SoundCloud. “Album on the way,” he wrote. “Congrats to my Grammy award winning brother Kaytranada.”
Last year, Jenkins dropped the EP The Circus and followed up with standalone tracks “Frontstreet” and “Snakes” featuring Kojey Radical.
