Metro Boomin calls for 21 Savage’s release on ‘Fallon’

Not all heroes wear capes, indeed. Sometimes they wear white jackets.

Metro Boomin showed up on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Space Cadet,” featuring Gunna. But the in-demand producer made full use of the opportunity to make a statement, calling for 21 Savage’s release from detainment.

Metro conducted a troupe of astronaut violinists, while Gunna took charge of rapping duties center stage. The hitmaker kept his back turned towards the camera, making sure that the graffitied statement “Free 21 Savage” on his jacket was visible throughout the performance.

21 Savage, a frequent collaborator of Metro’s, was detained by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier in the month. The “Red Opps” rapper is due to be released on bond, ahead of his deportation hearing.

“Space Cadet” is from Metro’s latest album, Not All Heroes Wear Capes, a title the producer certainly took to heart on Fallon. Watch his performance with Gunna here:
