Method Man, Jones Ink share new collab, “Day Ones”

An ode to life-long friendship.

Method Man has teamed up with Jones Ink for the Massachusetts rap duo’s debut single, “Day Ones.”

The Wu-Tang Clan legend and brothers Jerome “Chilla” Jones and Leon “Mr” Jones collide over DopeBoyzMusic production on the track, which is an ode to life-long friendship. A press release describes “Day Ones” as “the story of three young men who came up in difficult circumstances, lost their home but eventually were able to set things right.”

The accompanying clip, directed by Viso of Secret Society Films, opens with three kids who face life together, whether it be fighting off bullies or stealing a snack from the corner store. At the end of the video, the trio return to their neighborhood as grown men and buy the house they were evicted from.

“I gotta know who’s gonna ride with me? / I’m taking off, who’s tryna fly with me? / No time for fake ones, I roll with my day ones,” the duo rhyme in the chorus.

“Day Ones” marks Method Man’s second collaboration of the year, following his joint with Street Life, “Story of My Life.” In April, Meth faced off against Redman in a highly anticipated Verzuz battle.
