A few days ago, Melii dropped her highly anticipated debut project, Phases, with features from Tory Lanez, Odalys and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
Melii first caught attention with her rendition of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” and then her own song, “Icey,” which was co-signed by Rihanna. Now, the Harlem emcee’s dropped a 14-track project where she raps in both Spanish and English.
Phases was meticulously strategized, Melii explained in an Instagram post, and “will take you through a roller coaster of who [she] represents.”

But the release of Phases hasn’t been without controversy: It seems that in the process of signing to Tory Lanez’s label, One Umbrella, Melii apparently left Meek Mill’s Dreamchasers imprint on a bad note—a potential beef that she’s trying to de-escalate.
“My decision with going with Umbrella was based [on] an offer that was already there from years ago and wanting to better my craft, and where I felt I belonged,” Melii wrote on an Instagram story, Complex reports.
