Machine Gun Kelly covers Edwyn Collins’ “A Girl Like You”

The song also features Blink-182’s Travis Barker.

Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker have covered Edwyn Collins’ 1994 hit, “A Girl Like You.”

The duo put a moody twist on the alt-rock hit, moving away from the ’60s influenced sounds of the original. “I’ve never known a girl like you before / Just like in a song from days of yore,” Kelly growls on the track.

The cover was released for the soundtrack of the new Amazon Prime series, Paradise City. The show, which arrives today on the streaming service, is a spin-off of the 2017 film American Satan and stars rapper Hopsin, Bella Thorne, Drea De Matteo, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe and more. Paradise City will also feature a posthumous appearance from the actor Cameron Boyce, who died in 2019.

Earlier this month, MGK teamed up with YouTuber CORPSE for “DAYWALKER!,” which received the visual treatment this week. “A Girl Like You” also continues Kelly and Barker’s prolific creative relationship, following Kelly’s 2020 pop punk album Tickets to My Downfall, which Barker executive-produced.
