Listen to Tyler, the Creator’s “You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch”

A fresh take on the 1966 Christmas classic.

Tyler, the Creator has dropped a cover of “You’re a Mean One, Mr Grinch,” as part of the soundtrack for the upcoming animated Dr Seuss’ The Grinch reboot.

The song, which originally appears on the 1966 cartoon television special and performed by Thurl Ravenscroft, has gotten a modern makeover that kids (and adults alike) can jam to during the holidays. It’s less sinister than the original, but equally good. Backed by a chorus of children, Tyler raps playful and witty rhymes over a pounding beat: “All them smiles homie / I turn up the frown / All them decorations / I tear ’em down.”

That’s not all, though. Tyler’s also produced an original song, “I am the Grinch,” which will appear on the movie’s soundtrack, out November 9 via Columbia Records.
