Listen to Saba’s new song, “Papaya”

Featuring fellow Pivot crew member daedaePIVOT.

Following the arrival of his critically acclaimed sophomore album Care for Me, Saba is capping off his year with a brand-new single, “Papaya.”

Co-written by Saba and fellow Pivot crew member daedaePIVOT, “Papaya” is a soulful, piano-driven jam for those chilled-out weekends. It’s a bit of a sad one, though: on it, the Chicago native details his affection for a woman who’s unfortunately unavailable.

“I wanted you while you were / With your guy but that beside the point / The fruits of the labor, papaya / One day we’ll split the pie up and maybe enjoy,” he croons on the chorus. daedae, along with Ari Lennox, provide the backing vocals on this song.
