Listen to Little Simz’s bold new album, ‘Grey Area’

She’s been co-signed by the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill and Jay-Z.

English rapper-singer Little Simz—real name Simbi Ajikawo—has released her third studio album, Grey Area.

“Me again, and I’m here to pick up where I left off,” Ajikawo proclaims on the opening line of the ten-track record. The underrated rapper, who has gained praise from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Lauryn Hill and Jay-Z, incorporates a range of sounds on the LP, from jazz and grime to heavy rock.

She showcases her nimble flow and smart wordplay on slick tracks like “Venom” and “Sherbet Sunset,” but mellows out on soulful tunes like “Flowers,” with an assist from fellow English artist Michael Kiwanuka. The full-length also features appearances from Cleo Sol, Chronixx and Little Dragon.

Grey Area was released on Ajikawo’s own label Age 101 Music label and distributed by AWAL Recordings. The album also includes previously released singles, “Boss” and “Selfish.”
