Listen to Keith Ape’s debut EP, ‘Born Again’

The 88rising rap star is back to claim the Asian trap crown.

In September, we reported that Keith Ape was putting the finishing touches on his debut EP. Last Thursday, the South Korean rapper came through and dropped his highly anticipated project titled Born Again.

The EP, produced entirely by Philadelphia-based collective Working on Dying, features eight tracks, including the Wifisfuneral-assisted single “Ninja Turtle,” which debuted last month. Born Again opens with “My Wrist Clearer than Water!”—a track that echoes Ape’s older hits like “It G Ma” and “Psycho”—before the cosmos-tinged “Symphony No 1993 Escape from Planet of the Apes” neatly wraps up the record’s 20-minute runtime.

According to an interview with Hypebeast, the 24-year-old wordsmith revealed that producing the EP was a nerve-racking experience. “I didn’t feel ready,” he said. “Things changed so quickly and I was confused. I had to go through some tough times at such a young age. But I feel ready now, which is why now is the time.”
