Lil’ Kim links up with Rick Ross, Musiq Soulchild on “Pray for Me”

Her first album in 14 years drops this Friday.

Lil’ Kim has teamed up with Rick Ross and R&B singer Musiq Soulchild on “Pray for Me,” the latest release from her forthcoming album, 9.

The rapper shows off her vocal chops on the slow-burning single, trading lines with Soulchild about dealing with hardships through their faith. “I don’t know if I’mma make it / Pray for me / ’Cause times get hard and the money gets low / But don’t give up, you gotta stay down before the come up,” they sing on the chorus.

Kim then drops emotional bars about her fear of losing a loved one to violence: “I ain’t worried ’bout a bitch takin’ you from me / I’m more worried about the streets takin’ you from me / I’m more worried about police takin’ you from me / So before you leave the house kiss me and tell me that you love me.”

Later on the track, Ross jumps in with a braggadocious verse over triumphant trap beats. “Wake up in Versace boxers at the Ritz / Fell asleep, gold Rolex on my wrist / Who ever thought that I would grow and to be rich? / All these n***as tried to hit me but these n***as missed,” he raps.

“Pray for Me” is the latest single from Kim’s forthcoming album, 9, following “Go Awf” and “Found You,” featuring City Girls and OT Genasis. The record, which is her first in over 14 years, arrives this Friday via Queen Bee/eOne Entertainment.
