KYLE released his debut studio album, Light of Mine, in spring 2018. Now, the Ventura rapper has dropped off a deluxe version that features six additional songs.
Several of these additions to Light of Mine are previously released collaborations, including “Hey Julie!” featuring Lil Yachty, “SUPERDUPERKYLE” featuring MadeinTYO and “Moment” featuring Wiz Khalifa.
The brand-new songs on the deluxe version are solo cuts “Kyoto” and “Mmmm,” and “F You I Love You” featuring Teyana Taylor. The latter also got a fresh video, directed by Taylor herself, that makes creative use of perspective to visualize an off-kilter, but nevertheless loving relationship.
Besides dropping off the revamped album, KYLE has also been hosting and co-producing Fuse’s first adult animated series, Sugar and Toys, which premiered earlier this summer. Speaking with Billboard, the rapper revealed that the creative project has made him less anxious about his next album—which is currently in the works.
“I think in the rap world, you want people to fuck with you so much that you care about it so much. I’ve kind of reached a point where I think I don’t care if people like me. You can’t please everyone,” he said. “So making this new album, I’m definitely giving less fucks than I gave before because I’m already making this cartoon show that’s gonna flame everybody. So I might as well just get ready.”
