Kota the Friend reflects on friendship in new song, “Thieves”

    More music to come later this year.

    Before 2019 ended, Kota the Friend released an introspective track called “Thieves.”

    The Brooklyn-bred rapper examines his relationships on the laid-back song. “You had a rough life / I don’t know one like you / You rose above that / And drew from the sunlight that you never seen,” he spits over a mellow guitar-led melody and sounds of people skateboarding.

    Alongside the release of “Thieves,” Kota also took to Instagram to reflect on his 2019. “I dropped [his debut album] FOTO this year, It took me places I’d never thought I’d end up,” he wrote. “Idk when I’m gonna drop another album because FOTO is so close to my heart. I am looking forward to dropping new music + collabs in 2020.”

    Kota released FOTO last May. He previously contributed a verse to Pivot Gang’s “SoHo Freestyle.” Stream “Thieves” below:
