Kid Cudi and Eminem have joined forces on the explosive new collab, “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady.”
On the track, which is also their first-ever collaboration, the pair trade verses about their personal lives and the current state of the world over an ominous beat co-produced by J Gramm and Dot da Genius.
Cudi raps introspectively about his previous drug use—with lines like, “Y’all ain’t dealing with the same boy / Got a little trippy, then I transitioned”—and his time in rehab, where he was treated for depression and suicidal urges. “Years ago, rehab / All good, helped me figure out another plan,” he spits.
Later in the track, Slim Shady references everyone from Snoop Dogg to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Bees on his two-minute-long verse. He also slams people who refuse to wear face masks in light of COVID-19.
“Don’t wanna wear a mask and they’re just scoffing / And that’s how you end up catching the shit off ’em / I just used the same basket as you shopping / Now I’m in a fuckin’ casket from you coughin’,” he raps.
Shady also fires shots at the “half-wits in office” and responds to the death of George Floyd, which has reignited the Black Lives Matter movement worldwide. “How the fuck is it that so many cops are dirty? / Stop, man, please, officer, I’m sorry / But I can’t breathe when I got you on top of me / Your goddamn knee’s on my carotid artery,” he raps.
“The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady” follows Cudi’s previous collaboration with Travis Scott, “The Scotts.” On the other hand, Eminem previously paid tribute to the late Juice WRLD in his video for “Godzilla.”
