Kevin Gates returns with video for new song, “Weeks”

Teasing the upcoming album, ‘Khaza.’

Kevin Gates is back with another loosie called “Weeks,” which was produced by Boi-1da and Vinylz.

The new song and accompanying video find the Baton Rouge rapper looking over his shoulder for set-ups from his opposition. Directed by E Buckles, the video opens with a message: “No matter what you do or wear, the perception of others will never change. Always be yourself.”

Gates then launches into his rhymes: “I ain’t took my chains off in weeks / If I tuck it, they gon’ try to kill me anyway / And I’m prayin’ to the god of the streets / Way too big to be discreet anyway.”

“Weeks” is rumored to be the first single off his next album. Gates hasn’t revealed much about his upcoming project, though it appears to be titled Khaza after his son. It will follow his 2019 full-length I’m Him, which featured the tracks “Walls Talking,” “No More,” “Double Dutch (In Amsterdam Witt it)” and “Facts.”

The new project might include recent loosies from the prolific rapper, namely “Difficult,” “Grandmotha Grave” and “Still Hold Up.”
