Kanye West debuts ‘Nebuchadnezzar,’ starring Sheck Wes

The ‘Jesus is King’ saga continues.

A week after announcing that he would dabble in the world of opera, Kanye West has officially debuted his first ever theatrical piece Nebuchadnezzar: A Kanye West Opera.

The show was held at the Los Angeles Hollywood bowl and live-streamed on TIDAL. It starred Sheck Wes as the titular character and was directed by Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft.

West narrated the opera and read excerpts from the Bible’s book of Daniel as he retold the story of King Nebuchadnezzar, a once powerful king of ancient Mesopotamia who is known in biblical history for conquering Judah and the destruction of Jerusalem.

The opera featured music from West’s Sunday Service choir, Peter Colins and Infinities Song. The rapper previously his long awaited Jesus Is King album which is set to receive a Dr Dre-assisted sequel.
