Kanye West has released the video for “Follow God,” which features a special appearance from his father, Ray West.
The Jake Schreier-directed clip keeps things simple: Ye and his father, decked out in matching orange gear, ride through the snowy, picturesque Wyoming landscape in an ATV as “Follow God” soundtracks their journey. “Pressing on the gas, supernova for a night light / Screaming at my dad, and he told me, ‘It ain’t Christ-like,’” West raps on the chorus.
The two-minute-long clip ends on a heartwarming note: West pens a short message about reconnecting with his father, whom he now calls his “best friend.” “My dad came to visit me at one of our ranches in Cody, Wyoming,” the message reads. “He talked about his love for fishing, and how he would like to come here in the summers. It took me 42 years to realize that my dad was my best friend.”
“Follow God” appears on West’s latest album, Jesus is King. The record arrived alongside his new film—also titled Jesus is King—which captures the rapper’s Sunday Service performance in a James Turrell installation in Arizona.
