JPEGMAFIA, Tommy Genesis share “Rough 7” collab

JPEGMAFIA and Tommy Genesis have unveiled their latest collaboration, “Rough 7.”

Although Genesis had previously starred in Peggy’s “Puff Daddy” music video, this marks the first time the rappers have released a song together. The track features the duo spitting razor-sharp bars over a disjointed beat which samples Brandy’s “Never Say Never.” “What you meant to me / You and me are gonna be a bit / Know you laughin’ away with friends / I’ll be up in a minute,” Genesis raps on the opening.

In the accompanying homemade clip, Peggy and Genesis go on a sunset drive, dropping by an adult video store where they strut and pose provocatively along the DVD shelves.

“Rough 7” is the seventh track from JPEGMAFIA’s How to Build a Relationship series. He’d previously dropped the songs “The Bends!,” “Cutie Pie!” and “BALD!” In 2019, Genesis released a collaboration with Charli XCX titled “Bricks,” which first appeared in the 2018 film Assassination Nation.
