It’s official: A new JPEGMAFIA album, titled All My Heroes are Cornballs, is on its way.
The rapper confirmed the news yesterday with a trailer featuring some of his friends and collaborators poking fun at his upcoming project. James Blake, Flume, Kenny Beats, Injury Reserve, Channel Tres, DJ Dahi, Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and more appear in the 50-second clip, taking turns to mock Peggy’s forthcoming release.
“Spiritually, it has left me feeling unsettled,” Blake said of the album, adding that he never wants to see the rapper “ever again.” Meanwhile, Flume, Channel Tres and Dahi agreed that the record was “fucking trash.” Tweedy, on the other hand, bluntly described it as “a shallow attempt to draw attention away from [JPEGMAFIA’s] hairline.”
But Peggy’s inclined to agree with their assessments. In an interview with the FADER last month, the rapper explained that his new album will be centered on “disappointment.” “Straight-ass disappointment, man. Old-school let downs. It’s going to be an interesting end of the year, I’ll say that,” he said.
All My Heroes are Cornballs is the follow-up to JPEGMAFIA’s breakout 2018 sophomore album, Veteran. It will feature the rapper’s previously released single “Jesus Forgive Me, I Am a Thot,” and arrives September 13 via EQT Recordings. Check out the trailer below:
