Jaden Smith teases new album with “Again”

‘ERYS’ drops tomorrow.

Jaden Smith has dropped a brand-new single, “Again,” that compellingly stitches together hard-edged braggadocio and melodic melancholy.

The song opens with Smith flexing over a bouncy, trap-influenced beat: “Look, tell them boys I’m coming for they head top / They talk a lot, just wait until my set drop / I truly cannot wait to hear your next flop / Be careful n***a, this is not your Xbox.” But mid-way through, the track transitions into a dreamy R&B soundscape.

“Again” previews Smith’s new album, ERYS, which comes two years after his debut album, SYRE. “It’s kind of like the angel and devil on my shoulder, and SYRE’s the angel,” Smith told Zane Lowe of Beats 1. “[‘Again’ is] me telling the world, ‘Yo, this album’s gonna be something you haven’t seen from me.’”

Smith also revealed that the 17 tracks on ERYS will include features from Tyler, the Creator, Kid Cudi and A$AP Rocky, among others. It drops tomorrow via MSFTS Music/Roc Nation/Republic Records.
