J Cole, Rapsody team up on “Sojourner”

Two of North Carolina’s finest link up over a 9th Wonder production.

J Cole and Rapsody have released their latest joint effort, “Sojourner.”

Named after African-American women’s rights activist and abolitionist Sojourner Truth, the track finds the North Carolinians spitting sleek rhymes over a soulful, old-school rap beat. Cole kicks open the song with a hard-hitting verse before Rapsody jumps in on the second half to name-drop Swae Lee, Meek Mill and Aaliyah.

“Sojourner” appears on producer 9th Wonder’s upcoming release, Jamla is the Squad II, the sequel to his 2014 project. The 22-track compilation album, out November 9, will bring together some of hip hop’s brightest lights, including Busta Rhymes, Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch and more.
