It’s happening: Jay Electronica’s debut album is coming

The rapper announced a series of listening parties this week.

It’s official folks, Jay Electronica’s debut album is right around the corner.

Titled A Written Testimony, the album is the New Orleans rapper’s highly anticipated sequel to his 2007 project, Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge). The record, which was originally named Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn), was expected to arrive in 2010, when Electronica signed to Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation. But years went by and the album failed to materialize—that is, until now.

Earlier today, the music streaming platform Tidal announced a series of intimate listening parties, happening on March 12 in Los Angeles, New Orleans and New York. It is unconfirmed if Electronica himself will appear at any of these sessions, but lucky fans will be given an exclusive preview of the album. “It’s time,” Tidal tweeted this morning, alongside a poster for the event. Check it out below.

Electronica hinted last month that the album was already done, and that it will feature a collaboration with Jay-Z. He also added that A Written Testimony was “recorded over 40 days and 40 nights.”

A Written Testimony is due out March 18, according to Complex.
