iLoveMakonnen, Fall Out Boy honor Lil Peep’s vision in new MV

The visual for “I’ve Been Waiting” is like ‘Alice in Wonderland’ on acid.

Earlier this year, iLoveMakonnen released the Lil Peep collab “I’ve Been Waiting,” a Fall Out Boy-featuring song he and the late emo rapper had worked on in 2017 before his passing. Now, the song has gotten a video that attempts to honor Peep’s creative vision.

The Andrew Donoho-directed clip features an Alice in Wonderland-type world filled with whimsical characters and imagery. It opens with Makonnen singing at the piano, garbed in the type of lush garment you only see in fantasy films. Fall Out Boy members Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz show up, too. They all sit down for a meal, joined by a glowing white moth—who’s perhaps a representation of Peep in this world.

The creative direction and concept for the video came from fashion creative Sus Boy. “Peep wanted this video to bring people up into the clouds, into the fantastical world of his mind,” he said in a statement. “Making it now, alongside Makonnen, is our way of visiting him again.”
