Kota the Friend has shared his new album, To Kill a Sunrise, helmed by legendary producer Statik Selektah.
The Brooklyn rapper goes at it on his own throughout the ten track record, with the exception of “Go Now,” which features vocals from frequent Selektah collaborator Haile Supreme. The full-length is Kota’s second release of the year, following Lyrics to Go, Vol 2.
“I’m excited for the world to hear this,” Statik said of the album in a press release. “Really serious soundtrack with [Kota] at his best lyrically. I love that Kota has made his own lane for himself the way he has so independently.”
To Kill a Sunrise marks Kota and the producer’s first full-length project together, but it isn’t the first time they’ve collaborated. Last year, the rapper appeared on Selektah and Terminology’s joint EP, 1982: The Quarantine, as well as the producer’s solo album The Balancing Act.
