Hear 21 Savage’s new album

J Cole, Childish Gambino and others guest on ‘I Am > I Was.’

21 Savage’s sophomore album, I Am > I Was, has dropped right on time.

The 15-song release arrived Friday, marking a year since the trappist’s full-length debut, Issa Album. While that record was mostly produced by hitmaker Metro Boomin, I Am > I Was boasts a more diverse producer slate: Besides Young Metro, TM88, DJ Dahi, Kid Hazel and more are involved.

That’s not to mention the myriad rappers who’ve popped up to lend Savage a hand with guest verses. Some standouts are J Cole on opener “A Lot,” Post Malone on “All My Friends,” Childish Gambino on “Monster” and Offset on “1.5.”
