Headie One unveils new album ‘Edna’

The swift follow-up to the ‘Gang’ mixtape.

London rapper Headie One has released his debut album Edna, which comes six months after Gang, his acclaimed mixtape with Fred Again..

Hype for Edna has built steadily since Gang, reaching a fever pitch with the July release of “Only You Freestyle,” which featured none other than Drake. Headie One followed it up with “Ain’t it Different,” which connected him with fellow British stars Stormzy and AJ Tracey. Other guests popping up over the record’s 20-track runtime include Skepta, Future, Kaash Paige, Ivorian Doll, Mahalia and more.

Edna is named after Headie One’s mother. “As a debut album, there’s no one else I could really give the name to,” he said in a statement. “She’s a huge motivation behind my journey and my music. She keeps me going.”

Shortly after the release of Edna on Friday, Headie One followed up with two videos: the Latin-influenced “Princess Cuts” featuring Young T and Bugsey, and “Parlez-Vous Anglais” featuring Aitch. The first clip finds Headie and his collaborators enjoying themselves at a white party in tropical environs, while the second puts Headie and Aitch in front-row seats at a private fashion show in a swanky hotel.
