Canadian rapper Haviah Mighty has reunited with Nigerian-Canadian musician TOBi for her latest release, “Good on My Own Tonight.”
On the track, Haviah tackles themes of self-reliance and ambition over a self-produced beat. Speaking with Consequence of Sound, Haviah said the song “focuses on the moment of clarity when you realize that you’re better off on your own.”
“The process of getting to that place emotionally is often convoluted and full of extreme ups and downs,” she added. “If I can feel confident in my own decision-making abilities, I can be the driver of my life’s vehicle. This song was inspired by me reminding myself of this, month after month.”
“Good on My Own Tonight” is the first collaboration from the duo since Haviah appeared on a remix of TOBi’s song “24,” alongside Jazz Cartier, Shad and Ejji Smith, from his STILL+ project.
