Guapdad 4000 and producer !llmind have joined forces for a brand-new project titled 1176.
1176 was released on Paradise Rising, a new imprint from 88Rising which spotlights Filipino musicians (!llmind is Filipino, while Guapdad is of Filipino descent). Their new project comprises 14 infectious tracks that pay tribute to their Asian heritage.
On the penultimate song “Chicken Adobo,” the Oakland rapper compares the love for his partner to the savory Filipino dish. “How I fell in love with you it was beautiful / Like chicken adobo how you fill me up,” he rap-sings.
Buddy, P-Lo and Tish Hyman also contribute to 1176, on the tracks “PlayStation,” “She Wanna” and “Gargoyles” respectively.
“If !llmind had a power it would be to shapeshift, he can do anything,” Guapdad praised his collaborator in a statement. “Something like this comes in handy when you need to tell the full spectrum of your story like I did in this music. I had no idea we would stumble upon something this magical though, but I guess I should have known that linking up with my Filipino brother would enhance my superpowers!”
Guapdad’s last album was his 2019 debut, Dior Deposits. !llmind, on the other hand, dropped his Boomtrap, Vol 4 EP in 2016.
