Gang Starr return with long-awaited ‘One of the Best Yet’ LP

Their first album in 16 years.

Gang Starr have released One of the Best Yet, their first album in over 16 years.

The new 16-track record features previously unheard verses from the late MC Guru—who died in 2010—as well as contributions from Q-Tip, Royce Da 5’9”, Jeru the Damaja, Ne-Yo and more. The LP was previewed by “Family and Loyalty,” which features Dreamville head honcho J Cole, and “Bad Name.”

“This album means everything to me,” DJ Premier, the other member of Gang Starr, said in a press statement. “It’s a continuation of what I never wanted to end. It’s a very foreign place for me and very emotional. I get happy, sad, excited; my feelings are kind of all over the place. But predominantly, just very happy to be making music with Guru again.”

“I never lost faith, or wavered. I still felt it inside of me, it just happened to be nine years later [after Guru’s passing]. We all want the things we want right now, but I am a patient guy,” Premier added.
