Gang Starr announce comeback album with “Bad Name”

‘One of the Best Yet’ will be their first record in over 15 years.

Gang Starr have announced their new album, One of the Best Yet, with the track “Bad Name.”

On “Bad Name,” DJ Premier layers fiery bars from the late MC Guru—who died in 2010—over his signature soul sample-heavy production: “Think about it, what if bling never happened? And the true artists were gettin’ rich from rappin’ / Word to God, some should hear / Let’s delete the politics so real hip-hop can live.”

One of the Best Yet, which will be the jazz-rap pioneers’ first album in over 15 years, features the likes of Q-Tip, Talib Kweli, Ne-Yo, Royce da 5’9” and Nitty Scott. J Cole appears on the previously released single “Family and Loyalty.”
