Is summer over? Not if G-Eazy has anything to do with it. Yesterday, the rapper dropped the “Endless Summer Freestyle,” with a guest appearance by fellow Californian YG.
This one will please fans tired of Young Gerald’s more radio-oriented material. Both rappers flow with hardly a break over a fun, straightforward beat that samples “Neki-Hokey,” a ’50s tune by New York vocal group, The Cleftones.
G-Eazy and YG rap about their wealth and clout for most of the freestyle, but it screeches to a sobering halt in the last 20 seconds. The beat cuts out as G-Eazy furnishes a grave closing verse that urges fans to acknowledge white privilege and pay attention to police brutality.
