G-Eazy and Drew Love have recruited JAHMED for a rework of their 2017 single, “Love is Gone.”
The new version arrived alongside a video that features footage filmed during the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests. “Fuck the President cause he a fucking racist supported by white supremacists / Fuck Donald, go back to just running businesses,” G-Eazy raps on the song.
“I wrote ‘Love is Gone’ in the Summer of 2016… Fast forward four years later, and the same racial injustices are still happening day after day in our country,” G-Eazy said in a statement. “The fight against inequality is as important as ever. This is more than just a song to me, it’s a message… All lives can’t matter until #BLACKLIVESMATTER.”
G-Eazy has also announced that all profits from merchandise sales for the month of June will go towards Campaign Zero, Colors of Change and the MBK Alliance. The rapper is also donating 20,000 masks to essential workers in the Bay Area fighting against the spread of COVID-19.
Earlier this month, G-Eazy postponed the release of his upcoming project,Everything’s Strange Here, out of respect for the ongoing movement. The record’s first single, “Free Porn Cheap Drugs,” was released in May.
