G-Eazy, blackbear team up for cinematic “Hate the Way” MV

The latest from G-Eazy’s upcoming album, ‘These Things Happen Too.’

G-Eazy has recruited blackbear for his latest release, “Hate the Way.”

On the emotional song, the musicians sing about their struggle to let go of a toxic relationship. “Lie to myself every time I say that I’m done with you / Every day without you passes slower than one with you,” G-Eazy raps. “Wishin’ I was with you, still wish this shit was different / Wishin’ we could travel back in time and we could switch it.”

“Hate The Way” dropped alongside a cinematic music video directed by Kat Webber. The visual captures G-Eazy at the hospital, accompanied by blackbear, as he waits for his love interest, played by The Florida Project’s Bria Vinaite, to awaken from a drug-induced coma. As the rapper waits, he reminisces on their past and hot-and-cold romance.

“Hate the Way” is expected to land on G-Eazy’s upcoming album These Things Happen Too, the follow-up to June’s Everything’s Strange Here, which saw the rapper branch into new genres like synth pop, psychedelia and more. These Things Happen Too is the sequel to his sophomore 2014 LP, These Things Happen.

Last month, he released the song “Down” with Mulatto. On the other hand, blackbear teamed up with Machine Gun Kelly on “My Ex’s Best Friend.”
