Eminem recreate festive version of “Stan” for ‘SNL’

Starring Pete Davidson as Stu.

Eminem and actor-comedian Pete Davidson have joined forces on a recent episode of Saturday Night Live for a Christmas-themed parody of the rapper’s 2000 hit, “Stan” featuring Dido.

In the clip, Davidson plays Devon Sawa’s iconic role Stu, this time as a Santa Claus-obsessed fan who writes a series of threatening letters begging Father Christmas for a PlayStation 5.

“I tried to buy one at a Walmart / Ran around the shopping mall like Paul Blart / Tried to find one for sale, but the thing is that they’re all out / Yo, I even went to a Game Stop / And then I was like, ‘Oh wait, stop, Santa Claus can make one / The man got his own workshop,” Davidson raps over the familiar DJ Mark the King-produced beat.

Meanwhile, Stu’s mother—played by comedian Kate McKinnon—takes over Dido’s verse on the chorus. “But he can’t buy it himself because he lost his job because he was stealing from his boss / I’d be worried, he’s a scary guy,” she sings.

The clip flashes back-and-forth between the crazed superfan and the North Pole, where concerned elves read his letters. It then closes out with a surprise cameo from Em, who appears on a TV screen to show what he got for Christmas: a PS5.

“That’s crazy. A PS5? I didn’t even ask for this!” the rapper says. “I guess Shady must have been a good boy this year. Sorry, Stu. You fucked up.”

In July, Em teamed up with Kid Cudi for “The Adventures of Moon Man & Slim Shady.” Prior to that, the rapper celebrated the 20-year anniversary of The Marshall Mathers LP, which contained “Stan” and other hits like “The Real Slim Shady” and more.
