Drakeo the Ruler releases new mixtape, ‘Thank You for Using GTL’

He recorded his raps while in jail.

Drakeo the Ruler has released a new mixtape, Thank You for Using GTL.

The Los Angeles rapper recorded all the vocals for the project over the phone from the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles, according to Pitchfork. “I’m still the same Drakeo, jail hasn’t changed me or my lyrics,” he said in a press release. Drakeo is currently awaiting trial on charges of criminal gang conspiracy and shooting from a motor vehicle, which resulted in the death of a 24-year-old man.

“People should be able to say anything in their lyrics without them being used against them. I’m not involved in the shit I’m on trial for. They are using their wild imagination against me. On top of that, they actually let the snitch out, the one who was involved in the stuff I was rhyming about.”

“My message to fans is that I’ll be out soon. I’m not guilty and I’ll keep putting music out till out I’m out,” Drakeo added. “I’m going to always be myself regardless of the situation I’m in. I’m just going to get better and better.”

Thank You for Using GTL follows the rapper’s March compilation, Free Drakeo, which included loosies from 2016 to 2018. In January, the rappers ALLBLACK and G Perico remixed Drakeo’s song “Ion Know Nothing,” while in April Earl Sweatshirt jumped on “Ion Rap Beef” featuring 03 Greedo.
