Drake releases trailer for ‘Certified Lover Boy’

Mark your calendars: it’s arriving in 2021.

Drake has announced the release date for his upcoming album, Certified Lover Boy, with a brand-new trailer.

The minute-long clip, released on the rapper’s 34th birthday on October 24, chronicles Drake’s musical journey thus far. It opens on a young boy looking up to the night sky when a beam of light shines down on him. It then cuts to footage of present-day Drizzy recreating his past album art, including the covers for 2011’s Take Care, 2013’s Nothing Was the Same and this year’s Dark Lane Demo Tapes.

The video closes out with an aerial shot of the Certified Lover Boy emblem projected onto the roof of a stadium, before the words “January 2021” appear on screen. An exact release date, however, has yet to be announced.

Drake shared its first single, “Laugh Now Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk, back in August. The new album is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion. Last year, the rapper also released the compilation album, Care Package, a collection of loose cuts and rarities.
