Dr Dre hospitalized after suffering suspected brain aneurysm

The hip hop legend has since assured fans he’s “doing great.”

Dr Dre has been admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles after suffering from possible brain aneurysm.

According to TMZ, the 55-year-old hip hop rapper, producer and entrepreneur was rushed to the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday (January 4) and currently remains there today. The rapper is now in “stable” condition, though no other details about what caused the aneurysm are yet available, Pitchfork reports.

Shortly after the news broke, several celebrities, including musicians and producers alike, sent well wishes to Dre on social media. “Beloved @drdre…Love you man…Like my own son!!!” Quincy Jones wrote in a heartfelt message of support. “After going through 2 aneurysms myself, I’m believing & trusting that you will come out stronger than ever before! Here for you—whatever you need.”

Dre’s friend and collaborator LL Cool J also told fans that Dre was “recovering nicely.” Check out the messages below.

In a social media update after the news broke, Dre assured fans that he’s “doing great.” “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes,” he wrote in a statement on Instagram. “I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon.”

In November, it was reported that a new Dr Dre album was underway. Comedian-actor Page Kennedy shared the tip on social media, saying the rapper’s upcoming record sounded “fire” and that Eminem had a feature on it. Neither rappers have confirmed the speculation. Dre’s last album was 2015’s Compton.
