DMX is still alive and on life support despite the upswell of rumors online claiming that the rapper had died.
On April 8, DMX’s manager Steve Rifkind shared a statement on Instagram after the hashtag #RIPDMX started trending on Twitter. He confirmed that the rapper is “still alive” and urged fans to “stop posting these rumors.” “Yes, he is on life support, but please, it’s not helping anybody by having them see these false rumors. Let the family relax for a night,” Rifkind said in the video. Watch it below.
The Twitter hashtag began trending late Thursday evening after the gossip blog Gossip on This published a since-removed article that claimed DMX has died, according to Revolt. The false report stemmed from a worryingly phrased tribute from comedian Luenell, who wrote in a deleted Instagram story: “It is over, my friend is gone.”
She later clarified her post: “When your spirit leaves and your organs fail you, the body becomes just a shell. One becomes wrapped in the Lord’s arms. That’s what ‘I’ call gone. Sorry to all.”

DMX was hospitalized last weekend after he reportedly suffered a heart attack and slipped into a coma. At the time, his lawyer Murray Richman said that the rapper was “quite ill.” No other details were revealed.
