Denzel Curry taps Tate Kobang for “Shawshank”

The latest addition to the ‘Madden NFL 20’ soundtrack.

Denzel Curry has linked up with Baltimore’s Tate Kobang on his new single, “Shawshank.”

The rappers serve up rapid-fire bars and quick-witted wordplay on the hard-hitting track which was produced by Curry’s longtime collaborator FnZ. Curry starts things off with the catchy chorus: “Cook it up, gourmet / I go Super Saiyan, Gotenks / Anything I ever do is top rank / Got more bars than a Shawshank.”

Kobang takes the helm for the second verse, where he reflects on his past struggles. “Couldn’t eat, watch I eat now / Like how you couldn’t pay the freestyle? / Different cities every week now / Every woman is a freak now / What state, probably lookin’ bleep now / I was homeless, sleep designer sheets now,” he raps.

“Shawshank” is taken from the soundtrack of EA’s Madden NFL 20 video game, which features contributions from Rico Nasty, Snoop Dogg and Joey Bada$$, among others. Curry previously dropped his much-anticipated album, ZUU, in May.
