Denzel Curry squares up in “Ricky” MV

A new banger named for his father.

With his 2018 album TA13OO, Denzel Curry established himself as one of the most thrilling new voices in hip hop. His brand-new single, “Ricky,” is further proof that he’s not a rapper to sleep on.

Named for his father, the energetic track finds Curry rapping over a knocking FnZ beat about the life lessons his parents taught him: “My daddy said, ‘Trust no man but your brothers / And never leave your day ones in the gutter.’”

The song arrived with a video directed by Twelve’len that pays homage to Curry’s Florida home. In the visual, he’s seen brawling in the ring with MMA fighter Dada 5000, a tribute to the area’s backyard fighting culture.
