Dave impresses with debut LP, ‘Psychodrama’

The album reflects on mental health as well as racial and social inequality.

South London rapper Dave’s debut album, Psychodrama, is out now.

Born David Orobosa Omoregie, the 21-year-old MC flexes his razor-sharp songwriting over 11 songs, which the album’s notes says are loosely based on “a year-long course of therapy.” Dave discusses his experience as a black man living in the UK, his Nigerian heritage and the country’s prison system. On “Streatham,” the English spitter pays tribute to his hometown, chronicling his youth in the South London district.

In an Instagram post, Dave reflected on making his debut with such a personal record. “I feel like my whole life’s been leading up to this one moment and I’m so happy and grateful that I can put out a project I’m this proud of,” he wrote. “Blood, sweat, tears and sleepless nights went into this for years, and again I just hope the world enjoys hearing my story.”
