DaBaby has been released after he was arrested in Beverly Hills for gun possession.
Late last week, TMZ reported that DaBaby and his associates were on a shopping spree in Rodeo Drive. When police stopped them for a vehicle check, they discovered a loaded firearm in the car. In a statement per CNN, officials said they were alerted by security on Thursday afternoon that “a group of males walking southbound with one male having a handgun in his waistband” were seen inside a nearby store.
“Police made contact with the group after they entered a vehicle and were preparing to leave the area. An investigation followed and a 9mm handgun was found in the vehicle,” a rep for the Beverly Hills Police Department said.
Authorities initially detained DaBaby and the rest of his crew but only took the rapper into custody. His associates were released on the scene while DaBaby was later released on a $35,000 bail. The rapper is scheduled to appear in court sometime this week, according to Associated Press.
News of the arrest comes shortly after DaBaby faced online criticism for a forthcoming collaboration with Tory Lanez, who was charged with assault over an incident that allegedly involved DaBaby’s frequent collaborator Megan Thee Stallion last summer.
Meg has since shrugged off news of their joint effort, saying their song was “old and not cleared.” She also hinted that she and DaBaby were still on good terms and would be releasing a music video for their own collab, “Cry Baby,” a cut off her latest album Good News.
