CupcakKe ends her hiatus with “Lawd Jesus”

Back in September, the rapper announced she was quitting music.

CupcakKe has returned with “Lawd Jesus,” her first release of 2020.

On the track, the Chicago rapper spits biting bars about moving on from her past. “Fuck all my old friends, I’m not tryna make amends / I said, ‘Mama chill, we gon’ win’ / Money keep comin’ in / I’m tryna change from back then,” she raps over booming bass.

“Lawd Jesus” is CupcakKe’s first release since the rapper announced last September that she would “no longer be doing music.” In November, the singer said that she was no longer planning to retire, after an extended absence from social media.

Last year, the rapper dropped a slew of loosies, including “Grillings N***as,” “Whoregasm” and “Ayesha.” Her last full-length, Eden arrived in 2018.
