Cordae has teamed up with Roddy Ricch on the new song, “Gifted,” which also features additional vocals from Ant Clemons.
Cordae, who turned 23 years old on August 26, released the song as part of his birthday celebrations. “Another year around the Sun. Glory be to God. I’m so grateful for this blessed life I live and all who are apart of it. I really do what I love for a living and I’ll never take it for granted. History in the Making,” he wrote on Instagram. “[‘Gifted’] is my gift to y’all.”
The collaboration dropped alongside a video directed by none other than Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett. In the clip, Cordae and Ricch revisit their childhood homes before heading over to their new lavish hilltop mansions. “I told n***as that I would make it, they said, ‘No way’ / Watch them n***as that might eat up off of your plate,” they rap on the chorus.
“Gifted” also marks Cordae’s first release since changing his artist name. Formerly known as YBN Cordae, the Chicago rapper dropped the prefix after his rap collective YBN crew announced their disbandment earlier this month. Details behind the break-up still remain unclear, however, founding member YBN Nahmir seemed to suggest that the crew fell out.
“They left this YBN shit in the gutter,” he tweeted. “Remember that. I’ll turn it up myself.”
