Common releases “Say Peace” with Black Thought

A politically charged collaboration off a new album out tomorrow.

Common has announced a surprise album, A Beautiful Revolution Pt 1, with its first single, “Say Peace” featuring The Roots’ Black Thought.

On the four-minute track, the rappers demand liberty and freedom over a mellow Afrobeat-infused beat courtesy of Karriem Riggins. “On this path to progrеss, there’s been carnage / Regardless, this is a harvest for the world to harness / Elder’s dreams, creator’s promise / Bein’ free is like payin’ homage,” Common raps on the opening verse.

A Beautiful Revolution Pt 1 will drop in full tomorrow, October 30. “I can’t wait for you all to listen to it,” Common wrote on Instagram. “This was truly a labor of love for me.”

The project marks the conscious rapper’s first full-length release since 2019’s Let Love. Earlier this year, he teamed up with Jordan Rakei for “Signs.”
