City Girls have surprise-released their long-awaited sophomore album, City on Lock, after the project was leaked online.
On Saturday, JT and Yung Miami vented on social media about the album getting leaked. “I swear to god, y’all don’t understand how I’m feeling right now,” Yung Miami wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post. “Y’all think everything a game! NOBODY IS PLAYING.”
Rather than continue the record’s rollout, City Girls decided to drop the album prematurely and shared the cover art on Saturday night just hours before officially releasing City on Lock to streaming services. “Tonight, fuck it!” Yung Miami announced on Instagram.
Totaling 15 tracks, the album includes features from Yo Gotti, Doja Cat, Lil Durk and Lil Baby. City on Lock marks City Girls’ first full-length project since their 2018 debut, Girl Code. The duo’s upward trajectory was briefly interrupted by JT’s prison sentence for credit card fraud, which she began to serve in June 2018. The rapper was released last October, and celebrated with a fiery new song “JT First Day Out.” In November, they released another song “You Tried it.” Neither track is on City on Lock.
The pair also shared a music video for City on Lock cut, “Jobs,” in which they play unenthusiastic employees at an eatery. After City Girls get fired, they get ready for a new line of work on OnlyFans. Watch it here:
