City Girls, Big Sean, Lil Baby perform at the BET Hip Hop Awards 2020

A night of star-studded performances.

The annual BET Hip Hop Awards returned on Wednesday (October 28) night, featuring show-stopping performances from hip hop’s hottest acts, including City Girls, Big Sean, Lil Baby and more.

Lil Baby and 42 Dugg got the ceremony started with a fiery performance of their collab, “We Paid,” which appeared on the deluxe edition of the former’s latest album My Turn. The performance was followed by equally impressive showings from City Girls and Tobe Nwigwe respectively.

The evening continued with several collaborative performances: Gucci Mane joined Mulatto for “Muwop,” while Big Sean enlisted Jhené Aiko and Ty Dolla $ign for a sultry rendition of their song “Body Language.” Burna Boy, on the other hand, teamed up with Coldplay’s Chris Martin to honor the Black Panthers with a powerful performance of their joint track, “Monsters You Made.”

Later in the show, Quavo took the stage solo to pay tribute to the late Pop Smoke. The Migos rapper performed their collabs, “Shake the Room” and “Aim for the Moon,” cuts off the Brooklyn driller’s posthumous debut album, Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon. Pop Smoke was also posthumously awarded Best New Hip Hop Artist.

The night closed out with an energetic performance of “Money Maker” by 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, who were accompanied by a troupe of dancers and a marching band. But right before they jumped into their set, Tity Boi called for the authorities to“lock up all the officers that killed Breonna Taylor” and reminded viewers of the upcoming US Presidential Elections. “Make sure you go vote,” the rapper said.

Although Megan Thee Stallion didn’t perform that night, the Houston rapper still managed to steal the evening by bagging the awards for Hustler of the Year and Hip Hop Artist of the Year. She also won Best Collaboration for her remix of “Savage” with Beyoncé.
