It’s been two years since Childish Major made his debut with his WOO$AH EP, but the rapper-producer is finally back with his first full-length, Dirt Road Diamond.
The 11-track album features appearances from rappers such as Ludacris, Buddy and EarthGang’s Olu, as well as R&B singer Tish Hyman. The record also includes previously released singles “Feelings Hurt” and “For You.”
Major might be best known for working on hits for Dreamville artists like J Cole and JID, but in recent years, the producer-turned-rapper has been spending more time in front of the mic. “Coming up in the production world and the songwriting world, I know a lot of songwriters who want to be an artist,” Major previously told DJBooth. “The reason it doesn’t work out for a lot of them is they think since they’re able to give so-and-so a hit, that they can give themselves a hit.”
“It’s less about that and more about people connecting to you personally. I feel like that’s my approach. It needs to be my approach. To be personal,” he added.
